Special Services

Megan HorsleyWelcome to HCCSC’s Special Education Department page! Our mission each day is to make “Kid First” decisions. As a staff, we are able to provide a continuum of services to meet the individual unique needs of our students. HCCSC special education provides supports and services to students aged three through 22 who are found eligible for services. Our department is comprised of certified special education teachers, paraprofessionals, school psychologists, social workers, speech, occupational and physical therapists, special education coordinator and special education director.

As the director of special education, my passion and commitment to kids is at the heart of my job and every decision I make. I believe all students can learn. It is my duty to ensure parents, students and teachers are equipped with the knowledge, support and services to make that happen. I am fortunate enough to be surrounded by a faculty and staff that share the same conviction.  Parents and families are their child’s biggest advocate. I am dedicated to working as a team to help your student reach their full potential.

I have been in the field of special education since 2001 and served in a number of capacities. I have been a resource teacher at the middle and elementary school levels, an alternative education teacher, a behavioral consultant, transition coordinator and assistant director. I believe my varied background provides me with insight to better understand the needs of students, parents and teachers.

After graduating from Huntington North High School, I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary and Special Education. In 2015, I earned my Master’s in Special Education. I spent twenty years in the Indianapolis area before returning to Huntington with my husband and son. It is great to be back!
