Transition

Pre-Employment Transition Purpose:

To help teachers prepare students to make a successful transition from school to the workforce and adult life.

Program Focus:

  • To better prepare students to achieve independence and economic self sufficiency.

  • Job Exploration Counseling (resume writing, interview skills, completing applications, mock interviews and job search opportunities).

  • Work-based learning experience, which may include in-school or out of school opportunities.

  • Counseling or opportunities for enrollment in postsecondary education programs at institutions of higher learning.

  • Work based readiness training to develop social skills and independence.

  • Instruction in self-advocacy.

  • Training designed to improve or develop the skills, social and independent living, necessary for the student to obtain and retain employment.

  • Training that focuses on daily work related behaviors (stress management, personal care, confidence building and life skills).
