Andrews Elementary and Flint Springs Elementary students pose with their robotics trophiesSTEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) activities have really come to the forefront of student interest. Robotics is a great way to incorporate these subjects and have fun at the same time! Robotics teams at Andrews Elementary and Flint Springs Elementary recently participated in a competition, and both performed very well. Students build the robots, and learn to drive them and complete tasks in a competitive environment.

There are 3 teams from Andrews Elementary made up of 4th and 5th graders. All of the Andrews teams made it to the final round of competition. They placed 3rd, 7th, and 8th out of 28 teams. Team Girl Power earned the ‘Design Award’ for their Engineering Notebook and overall knowledge of their robot. The Andrews Robotics teams are coached by Teresa Johnson and Rebecca Mullens.

Flint Springs Elementary teams are made up of 3rd through 5th grade students. The Lady Falcon Fire Storm and Falcon Fire Storm #2 ended the preliminary rounds of competition placing 1st and 2nd, while Falcon Fire Storm #1 finished 18th and did not make the finals.  Lady Falcon Firestorm and Falcon Fire Storm #2 were in an alliance for the finals, and were the last alliance to compete.
