Huntington North honors Abbi (Wilson) Rosen for Silver Anniversary Team selection
Huntington North High School recognized former Lady Viking basketball player Abbi (Wilson) Rosen during halftime of the Lady Vikes’ game on Wednesday against Wayne, as Rosen was recently named to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame’s 2022 Women’s Silver Anniversary Team.
Rosen was a valuable part of the greatest era of Lady Vikes basketball, starring for Huntington North in the mid-90s.
Rosen tallied 1,255 points, a program record 901 rebounds and 314 blocks during her time at Huntington North. Among Rosen’s accomplishments as a Viking were setting a program season record with 264 rebounds and registering the first-ever triple double in program history, posting 20 points, 10 rebounds and 13 blocks to accomplish the feat.
Rosen averaged 17.1 points and 10.4 rebounds per game during her senior season, 13.5 points and 10.2 rebounds per game as a junior and 11.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game during her sophomore season on the 1995 state championship squad.
In all, the Vikings racked up a remarkable 91–12 record with Rosen in the lineup, including four sectional titles, three regional championships and the 1995 state crown. Individually, Rosen earned 1997 ICGSA all-state and 1996 Indiana Junior All-Star honors in addition to being a three-time all-conference, three-time all-sectional, two-time all-regional and two-time all-semi-state selectee.
Upon graduating from Huntington North in 1997, Rosen went on to play basketball at the University of South Florida, playing in 66 games over three seasons before earning a degree in elementary education with cum laude honors.
Rosen’s Lady Vikes accomplishments were read during halftime, and Rosen received a warm welcome back from the North Arena faithful.
Rosen and the rest of the 2022 Women’s Silver Anniversary Team will be officially honored at the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame’s women’s banquet in Indianapolis on April 30.
