HCCSC accepted a generous donation of winter coats from MidWest America Federal Credit Union on Monday morning at Lincoln Elementary School. Lincoln Principal Jennifer Yarger, Lincoln Assistant Principal Josh Troyer and four Lincoln students were on hand to accept the coats from MidWest America Huntington Branch Manager Brittany Brown.
MidWest America held a drive among its staff members, collecting over $9,000 to be used to purchase a total of 320 winter coats to be distributed to children within the communities MidWest America serves. With Huntington County being one of the areas served, 17 winter coats were donated to HCCSC to be given to Huntington County children to keep them warm this winter.
“I personally think it’s very important to stay involved and help your community in any way possible,” Brown said. “I hope this donation can help keep some kids warm through the winter that otherwise may not have had something as simple as a coat to help protect them from the cold.”
MidWest America has established a long-lasting legacy of giving back to the community in a number of ways, including holding drives for non-profits, providing funds to local schools and organizations through its Affinity Program and volunteering in neighborhoods through its #MidWestGivesBack initiatives.
“Thank you so much to MidWest America for providing winter coats to our HCCSC students,” Yarger said. “Your generous donation will help keep students warm and healthy this winter season! Thank you for your generosity and impact on our students!”
The 17 coats, which range in colors and sizes, will be distributed to students in need throughout the district’s nine schools.
