HCCSC elementary schools have partnered with JJ Java, a local coffee shop in Huntington, to produce custom-designed coffee sleeves to spread holiday cheer throughout the community. Each elementary school will have a designated day for their coffee sleeves during Feature Week at JJ Java, which is held during the first week of December.

The Huntington North Choral Department announced on Tuesday the cancellation of the annual in-person Pomp and Plenty fundraiser. Instead of hosting the in-person event, a free livestream virtual performance will be offered.

Horace Mann Elementary School conducted its third annual Jar Wars fundraiser last week, with the proceeds being donated to United Way of Huntington County. In all, $1,238.14 was raised for United Way throughout the week.

A day looked forward to each year, Veterans Day and its celebrations took on a different style within the Huntington County Community School Corporation in 2020, as honorary programs were altered for safety in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Smiling, positive and inspirational are three words to describe Wyatt Schmaltz. Who knew that so much could be packaged in one small body? On July 24, 2020, the Horace Mann Elementary family experienced a great loss when our classmate, student and friend, Wyatt, lost his six-year battle with cancer. However, memories of Wyatt live within those who knew him. The influence he had in the lives of others was far-reaching. You did not have to personally know Wyatt to be affected by his story. Many followed his battle with cancer and walked alongside of him and his family in their hearts and prayers.

Huntington North junior Addison Wiley capped her cross country season on Saturday, claiming a sixth-place finish with a time of 18:25.9 at the 2020 IHSAA Girls Cross Country State Finals at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Roanoke Elementary School hosted its fourth annual pumpkin decorating contest fundraiser last week, with 100% of the proceeds raised—a total of $322.21—going to United Way of Huntington County.
